Victoria’s first marine spatial planning framework has been developed as part of the State government’s new marine and coastal policy. The framework provides guidance and a process to support a more integrated and coordinated approach to marine planning and management.
This presentation will outline the participatory, co-design approach used to draft the framework and provide some reflections on application of this approach to the development of government policy. A brief overview of the framework’s key elements will also be provided.
Nicola has worked on a range of initiatives to improve marine and coastal planning and management. She currently works for the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, and holds qualifications in coastal management, marine biology and public sector management. In her spare time, Nicola enjoys exploring and taking images of life underwater.
